I have found a long lost friend on fb recently! I was so happy to have found him! He and his partner just celebrated their 11 year anniversary. I can't believe it's been longer than that since I last saw him. I'm very excited to reconnect. Don'tcha just love fb for these moments?! God I miss hanging out with him. He was sooo much fun! (and always smelled great too!)

9 days to go 'til SDR! (http://www.sanforddragrace.com/)
I'm getting the jitters a bit early. I have to tell you a story though. Recently, I had to call somebody I knew/know but try not to be in contact with no more than I absolutely need to. This may be hard to understand, but bear with me. I just try to give space to be respectful to someone in my past.
So I had to call her to get some info for the SDR and the conversation just flowed like water. She goes on to tell me she knew I was looking for a wedding dress for the show and she had one for me. I told her I had found one, but wanted to hear about the one she mentioned. The dress in question was her very own wedding dress from 1975! I JUST LOVE VINTAGE! She told me I could have the dress b/c she was surprised that she hadn't thrown it out years ago. She figures she's been holding onto this dress for the very reason since breast cancer is so dear to her and the show is about breast cancer.
I agreed to atleast check the dress out and if possible use it. It had yellowed from being stored in a bag for over 3 decades but was still very beautiful. It's a full length gown with lace all the way up to the kneck and full lace sleeves! Very beautiful. I took the dress, but I knew I wasn't going to wear it... I couldn't! How could I destroy her wedding dress?! What about her kids? Wouldn't they want it someday? How about her grandchildren? They might want it someday! After my mom died, I received her wedding dress and I cherish it. I figure they will too some day.
So instead of hacking it up, I contacted the head of SDR and told her about the situation. She suggested I contact a guy who was in the show last year (and owns a drycleaning business) and see if he'd donate the services of cleaning and storage in return for some free advertising. He agreed!!!
SOOO, the dress is being dry cleaned and will be professionally sealed in a storage box! She won't find out until the night of the show.
You have to understand... this woman is a nurse who helps breast cancer patients navigate through their treatments and healing. What an honor it is to know she will get her preserved wedding dress back fully intact and stored for the future!
